Susan was born and raised in the Boston area and lived throughout the United States and Asia before returning to Boston in 1973 to raise her four children. Having graduated from Vassar College in 1969 where she took art and philosophy courses, she earned a degree in interior design at Mt. Ida College upon her return to the Boston area. She established her own firm, Susan Dearborn Interiors, Inc. in 1979. Susan has recently moved back to the suburbs after living for ten years in Boston. Susan Dearborn Interiors, Inc. works throughout New England and the South Eastern U.S. She is an Allied Member of ASID, a member of the National Historic Trust and in the National Who's Who of Executives and Professionals. Susan Dearborn Interiors has been a member in good standing of the Better Business Bureau for fifteen years.
Susan loves her work today as much as she did 25 years ago. Having owned and renovated five residences while raising four children and being actively involved in community and charitable affairs, she personally knows the stress of having no kitchen for what seemed like two years, inhaling plaster dust for months and having to delay a move-in because the floors would not dry. Her "life experiences" make her more cognizant of the stress her clients feel during their design project and her professional expertise enables her to provide them with educated choices.
Outside the office Susan spends as much time as she can with her four grandchildren. She also reads extensively about design related subjects, and supports the MSPCA and The Boys and Girls Club. She loves to cook and enjoys golf, tennis, biking and skiing.
