The interior decorator of the early 19th century (usually an acquaintance with similar taste and a good "eye") has today become a well-educated professional interior designer with a wide range of knowledge including building materials, electrical plans and project management. Design today is big business in this country with multitudinous choices and the role of the interior designer has never been more important. We are bombarded with catalogs and the internet, which leaves us with too many options. It is very easy for the consumer to feel overwhelmed and make unwise decisions. As professional designers, our role is to educate our clients by familiarizing them with viable choices and then assisting them in making the most prudent decisions.

Building / Remodeling

An overall master plan is essential whether you are building, remodeling or refurbishing. The expertise of a professional interior designer will help you avoid costly and time-consuming mistakes. Today the interior designer has become a valued member of "the design team," working with architects and builders from the beginning of a building or remodeling project through the completion of the design and décor phase. Interior space is a reflection of exterior design, so the designer's expertise is helpful from the inception through the end of the project.

If you are building or remodeling, the overall master plan includes molding selections, lighting placement, bath and kitchen materials, lighting fixtures, etc. After these decisions have been made, the design and décor phase requires a master plan within each room including furniture, fabrics, window treatments, paint colors, etc. All of your interior spaces must work together to form an aesthetically pleasing whole. With the ability to see three dimensionally, I can assure you that the decisions you make will result in the finished product that you envisioned.
